Shared Dreams has now completed it's 4th full year bringing together Cuban and American artists and designers.

Sharing Dreams: Cuba and The U.S. Cross the Digital Divide
Compartiendo Sueños: Cuba Y Los Estados Unidos Cruzan La Brecha Digital

In October, 2007 during Icograda’s Design Week in Havana, 16 designers - 8 from the U.S. and 8 from Cuba - represented their respective design communities with the help of AIGA's Center for Cross Cultural Design and Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau. They used the language of culture that they know best: visual design, the spoken word, and digital technology to reach across borders using visual communication in order to communicate with diverse audiences.

The designs from each of the 16 artists were exhibited at the Centro Hispanoamericano Museo de Cultura in Havana. This project has also been posted on the Web here as well as on the AIGA site at www.xcd.aiga.org and at www.prografica.cult.cu and www.artedigital9.cubasi.cu.

These events in Havana are sponsored by The Centro Cultural Pablo de la Torriente Brau and with the support of the Historiador de la Ciudad de La Habana (the City Historian), HIVOS, ENET / ETECSA Cubas' Portal, and the collaboration of the Union of Cuban Artists and Writers (UNEAC), the Cuban Institute of Art and Cinema (ICAIC), and the Consejo Nacional de Artes Plásticas.

2006 Sharing Dreams - EL AMOR CONQUISTA TODO
The theme of last year's event was SHARED DREAMS / LOVE CONQUERS ALL. Written commentaries from the designers accompany their submitted designs, focusing on their visions for how love brings disparate cultures together.

2005 Sharing Dreams - SUEÑOS DE PAZ
The theme of the event in 2005 was DREAMS OF PEACE. The designers collaborated online, and then provided written commentaries in addition to their designs, focusing on their individual visions for peace on earth.

2004 Sharing Dreams- SUENOS COMPARTIDOS
The inaugural theme of this annual event was simply SHARING DREAMS. Written commentaries from the 10 designers (5 from Cuba and 5 from the U.S.) accompanied their designs, focusing on how the dreams of those in disparate cultures are, in fact, so similar.

The experiences - and images - of all the designers in this annual event are represented in an International Touring Exhibition currently visiting galleries in the U.S, Canada, South America and, of course, Cuba.
